Lamotrigine_512.jpg

Introduction

Lamotrigine is an antiepileptic drug in the phenyl triazine class used in the treatment of both epilepsy and as a mood stabilizer for bipolar disorder. It is the first medication since lithium to be granted US FDA approval for maintenance treatment of bipolar type 1, and is approved for use in more than 30 countries.

In this work, the analysis of Lamotrigine, in accordance with the USP monograph, is detailed. Utilizing a PerkinElmer LC 300 liquid chromatography system with SimplicityChrom CDS for the analysis is efficient and accurate, with tailing factor and repeatability results achieved are well within the monograph acceptance criteria.
